When I did I actually thought it would work! I
spent a small fortune trying this kind of stuff,
and the only one who benefited financially was
my company. I was a total cash-cow for their
business tools.
The bottom line is that these types of
techniques can work…BUT NOT VERY OFTEN, and

and have 5 – 10 years to wait for results, go
right ahead. A large corporation has the assets
to wait to collect their capital on the back

Myth # 3. Most of the techniques that are taught in the
MLM/home-based business industry do work,
time and again…But Not For You!
I know that might not make sense, so let me
explain: The tools and techniques taught in this
industry serve as “positioning techniques”. I’m
not going to get too technical here, but
positioning is how your prospect views you
compared to the competition.
A positioning technique is a tool or action that
acts to create a position in the mind of a
prospect. Think about this: Business cards,
flyers, compensation plans, 3-way calling,
taking your friends and family to a meeting to
hear one of these “Top Dogs” talk about how they
are making $20,000 per week…
All these are positioning.
These techniques place the light of that
expertise DIRECTLY ON THE COMPANY and the
“Top Dogs” at the top ‘inner circle’. But…
What do these positioning techniques do for you?
Very little. Well, that’s not entirely true, it
actually positions you as a gopher for your
upline. And here’s the kicker: all these tools
were NEVER meant to position you as a
self-sufficient BUSINESS OWNER to your warm
market, or any other market!
The Plot Thickens…
And while we’re on the subject of the “warm
market”, when your warm market runs dry, what
are you supposed to do then? Do a genealogy
search on the internet and find some long-lost
relatives that are looking for an income
opportunity? Get out in the market place and
tell people about my opportunity!
Yeah, right. When I first got interested in
network marketing I thought about going out to
every mall, public event, fitness center,
health-food store, swap-meet, restaurant and
picnic and then I could find people to talk to
about my business. What did I get?
Nothing….
All my prospects could see that I had positioned
myself as a whipping-boy for my company, and
they wanted no part of it. Like I said, these
techniques were never designed to position the
distributor they were designed to position
THE COMPANY and these “upline guru’s” as the
true experts.
These techniques make it so the guru never has
to prospect again, because they know that the
failure rate in the network marketing industry
is a monstrous 94%, so more than likely they
know they probably won’t be seeing you again

line and comp plan, but knowing all there is to
know about why your company is so much better
than any other company, why your comp plan is so
much more lucrative, why your competitors can’t
even hold a candle next to your opportunity…none
of this is what making $100,000 per year from
HOME (not the local coffee shop or hotel
meeting, but from HOME) is all about.
It is about USING SOUND MARKETING PRINCIPLES,
principles that every successful business around
the world uses, principles that are used by
all successful network marketers to produce
all the money they are making…..
Secret # 4.
Here’s an easy way to understand what I’m saying:
I live north of Yosemite National Park in
California, and out here in the boonies one of
my favorite things to do is go fishing.
Now, if I’m going to catch any fish, what are
the TWO things that I ABSOLUTELY MUST
HAVE if I’m going to catch anything?
1) If I’m going to catch anything, I have to
know where the fish are at. If there are no fish
where I’m fishing, then I’m not catching
anything.
2) If I’m going to catch anything, I have to
know what they like to eat. That’s it.
Once I know where they are and what they want, I
know without doubt that I’m going to catch some
fish.
Success in business, ANY business, is exactly
the same.
This is why your “list of 100” doesn’t work.
That’s NOT enough fish, or even the right kind
of fish! To have a chance, you have to go where
there are TONS of fish. Think about it, a
commercial fisherman doesn’t float around on the
local creek and hope to bring in a big
catch…They go to the ocean, where there are
millions and millions of fish to catch. In order
to succeed, you must have a continuous stream of
new clients, new prospects. You need to be
swimming in new prospects, and when you know how
to do this, it’s the best feeling in the world!
NOTE: This is not a push for those DOUBLE-DIPPED, QUADRUPLE
OPT-IN, FRESH-OFF-THE GRIDDLE, PSEUDO-QUALIFIED
opportunity leads that cost $5 - $7 bucks a pop,
or some overpriced, under-performing web-site
that will supposedly deliver leads to your inbox
by the truckloads.
That would be the quickest
way to put you and me out of business.
At one point, I thought I had found the key with
a full-on, state-of-the-art, automated,
multi-media lead-generation system that cost
over FIVE THOUSAND BUCKS TO SET UP, AND OVER A
HUNDRED BUCKS A DAY JUST TO KEEP RUNNING! Do you
think it worked? Within two weeks I had to shut
it down, it nearly put me out of business
PERMANENTLY. I spent all that money, and I
didn’t generate a single DIME from it. I really
have tried it all, and what I learned is that
there is NO SUBSTITUTE FOR A MARKETING KNOWLEDGE!
There will never be an automated tool that will
replace the income-producing potential of what
you or I can personally do.
I knew early-on that I really wanted some
financial security in my life. I wanted
financial stability, so when I first heard about
network marketing, it sounded like the greatest

all my business “experiments”, I truly believe
that a home business is the best way to create

(remember back in science class?)
What is the activator? The activator (or catalyst, I’m trying to
not be too technical) is simply a substance that
sets the whole chain reaction off…something that
starts up the fire and keeps it burning hot. The
activator in this case is someone who can show
you how and in which direction to take that
first step. Someone that can show you how to
find and develop the right message (the right
lures for fishing). Someone that can show you
how find the right audience or your ‘target
market’ (where the fish are).
Someone that can show you how to inspire the
urgency for prospects to be in your organization.
By the way, the reason those $5 - $7
“opportunity leads” are such a bad deal is that
EVERYONE is looking for an opportunity.
Seriously, if you’re making $10 per hour, you
would be interested in the opportunity to earn
$12 per hour. Ask someone making $150K per year
if they want to make $200K, they will say “yes”.
You DON’T need someone to show you an
“opportunity seeker”, the phonebook is
chock-full of them! You DO need someone to
show you how to identify your perfect TARGET
MARKET, the group of consumers that are ALREADY
LOOKING for your type of product or service. The
real kicker is trying to find someone who
will show you all these things for YOUR BENEFIT,....
not theirs.
How many people out there are actually willing
to give more than they receive? Unfortunately,
the marketplace is crowded with people that are
much more willing to take than give. But there
are some people out there that are truly
committed to giving as much as they can to as
many people as possible.
SO HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT I’M THE PERSON THAT CAN
SHOW YOU THESE THINGS?
Frankly, I’ve been pretty blunt with you so far,
so I’ll keep with it and keep it real the bottom line is
that you don’t.
I can invite you over to my house for some good
dinner and some laughs, but even at the end of
it you wouldn’t really know if I could help you
produce a six-figure income. The only way you
could measure if I was the real deal is by the
results. And I do know this: I KNOW that I’ve
shared more with you in the last several minutes
than ANYONE in your company will probably EVER
share with you. I know and understand what it’s
like to get the “runaround”, how frustrating it
is to want to go out and fall flat on my face,
time and again.
It really breaks my heart that so many people in
the home-business industry spend their entire
business life making donations to their company
and never see a penny of compensation for their
work. The world really would be a better place
if we all lived by the “Golden Rule”, and I do
what I do because I would have really
appreciated someone stepping in and showing me
the RIGHT way to do things before I had spent
all that time and money doing the wrong things.
And speaking of “spending money”,
That brings us to the next point…
Secret # 5. Don’t break the bank and spend
yourself out of business!
Watching so many networkers come and go, I get
to notice some similarities. One of the things
that happens when a person goes to one of these
company-sponsored “Mega-Events” is that the
person gets very excited by all the energy
around them, and they decide to dump a boatload
of cash on some new “tool” to explode their
business, and about four weeks later they are
just about in the same position as they were in
before. Look, YOU CANNOT SPEND YOURSELF OUT OF
BUSINESS.
As a business owner, you have to be able
to break down your expenditures and your
profits. You owe it to your business to STAY in
business, and you can only do that if you don’t
break the bank. If you don’t have any profits,
DON’T BUY EXPENSIVE TOOLS AND LEADS UNTIL YOU
HAVE THE SKILLS TO CONVERT THAT EXPENSE INTO
REVENUE! Don’t run an expensive ad campaign
until a cheap one gives you results. Don’t
advertise on the internet until you KNOW HOW TO
USE IT.
Be economical, be frugal. The only exception to
this rule is when it comes to investing in
yourself, and your personal skill set. ALWAYS
INVEST IN YOURSELF, and ALWAYS invest in your
business a part of your profits.
And while we’re at it, here is another nugget of
gold: YOU ONLY HAVE SO MUCH TIME IN A DAY, SO
USE IT WISELY. Big, time-consuming
techniques such as meetings at hotels and coffee
shops and home parties are terribly inefficient
from a time-management standpoint. Do yourself
(and your warm-market) a favor and leave them
alone. Your warm market is just not big enough
to support a full-fledged business. Stop buying
every prospect a free dinner, and instead invest
that money in learning the art and science of
marketing and learn how to channel those
monies into cash-producing vehicles that
matches your skill set.
STILL DON’T BELIEVE ME?
No problem, let’s look at the numbers. Let’s say
you live in Colorado Springs
(population
500,000)
Let’s say that 100% of the entire city has a
need, want, or desire for your particular
product or service. Yeah, I know this is an
extreme example, but bear with me. Let’s say
that over the course of one year you sign all of
Colorado Springs up into your company. At this
point, you’d have a pretty nice business. Now,
say that you live in Podunk, Iowa. Let’s say
that you know how to tap the U.S. market, a
market that includes over 300 million consumers.
Let’s say that only 1% of all this market has a
need, want, or desire for your product or
service. That’s over 3 MILLION PEOPLE. That’s a
downline of 3 million versus a downline of
500,000. 1% versus 100%. This is why warm-market
marketing doesn’t hold a candle to finding your
target market.
Do you think that’s amazing?
This is amazing…..

can actually have a home-based business. Never
will you sponsor those hotel events and house

best parts about this is that you can do it all
from your home, in your bathrobe and slippers if

marketing scheme, you still have to learn how to
build relationships, but the fun part is that
when you are doing something that benefits
people, and they thank you for it, it turns out
to be much more valuable than any compensation
plan. You really can learn how to attract
prospects that are already looking for what you
have, and learn how to create the urgency to buy
just like the largest companies on the planet,
who never seem to have to beg you to purchase
their goods.
WHY AM I BOTHERING TO TEACH OTHER PEOPLE THIS
MATERIAL?
Good question. I still utilize everything I’ve
learned on a daily basis, so I’m staying busy.
There are 2 main reasons I’m helping others:
1) I know there is a HUGE market out there and
there is plenty for the taking if you know how

2) I absolutely LOVE this industry, and love the
opportunity to help anyone who wants to learn

How much will I have to spend to learn how to

That is a great question. You know, when I first
started learning all these things myself, I had
nearly gone broke trying all those other things,
so I didn’t have much money to invest either. But remember, I spent THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of
dollars on trial and error gimmicks. One of the
things that I’m most proud of is the fact that I
show people how to do these things based on
their learning curve, so they learn how to spend
the exact amount of money that complements their
skill set, and as that skill set improves,
profits are used to expand their business. That
way, nobody spends more than that they can’t
recover quickly.

What if I’m so broke I can’t see straight?
Well, there’s good news and bad news. The bad
news is that there is no free lunch, and as good
